Damn,

Is this a war?

Then look at this pic?

It looks like I am not the only one saying that google it's powerfull, some people took some time to deliver a graphical description of the idea

BUT! I am really happy to see what 's going to be next.

Is Google over-delivering?!

No way! It is a money making machine. They make money from the ads, they got the brand, everyone knows it.

By the way, how much do you think they make from the ads on your websites? I bet they do about 50%

LOl. You are right Vladimir, I am only saying that the second and third place rivals are well established and extremely successful internet companies.

Where will we be in two years?

In three years?

Get your crystal ball out.

I'm affraid to predict anything Tim, because if I look back, today's technology seems to be crazy compared to what we had back then.

Engineers are doing a great job improving anything, making it smaller, faster, more reliable, and so on.

Have a look arround - 2 GB storage on small pieces of plastic, 250 GB hard drive, these things are only things I was just dreaming about, but now, they are everywhere.

However, it looks like storage is the key, I just read some interesting articles I bookmarked , baybe they look a little bid geeky, but I like to keep my mind fresh haha

http://click.hereformore.info/a_different_spin_on_future_data_storage.html

I have heard lots of things about information storage, but it looks like those engineers keep focusing on the magnetic support. Which of course, has limits. Check this out

Anyways, I think it's going to get better and better. I've been working in computer maintenance area, and I really observed closely the way technology evolves.

However, I have big expectations

Uh, I got carried away by the topic, here's a flash news which was intensly tested:

you don't need keywords or description tags in order to rank well in google, you might even messup things in there if the competitors are struggling to be #1.

It looks like this search engine was really improved in the last 6 months.

Storage is a big issue. And opportunity. Have you heard of Brocade? I know they were one of the big players in online storage. Is that something we as internet marketers are able to use?

Hehe,

Never heard of Brocade, but I googled it, each day I learn something new. I'll get a look on that website.

However, as you saw, the webhosting solutions are more reliable and each serious company it's offering classy & cost effective services. I hate being SCAMMED!!

If I would suggest anyone for a good webmaster, I would go for Layered Tech.

And the best part is you can get an unmanaged dedicated server for a very low cost.

And the problem is, I am a lucky guy. I have the full support of my friend Gupi who is the best hosting manager I've seen. He is Super Man, I don't need anyone when it comes the word about hosting :P He deserves a direct link and some orders if you people are serious about your bussiness.

I think webhosting it's not a problem, my biggest problem is finding more time to deliver what people want.

I think this year is one of the best I had, and there are a lot more to come ...

How do you want to have it, this year? :P

I am also looking forward to the coming year. And years. We are pretty lucky to be alive in these times with great opportunities all around us.

I am interested in video blogs, some call them vlogs, and was wondering what do you think of this technology? Is it going to catch on like blogs or is it going to just be a small niche among the huge blog world? What are some of the difficulties that a webmaster might encounter when trying to set up a vlog or vlog hosting?

Oh Tim, you really hit a hot spot about vlogs.

First of all, we still live in the age when not everyone is using at least a quality broadband connection and having a vlogging service it's a very brave choice.

First of all, you will need lots of bandwitdh (let's ignore that because we must focus on more important things).

As an alternative to the stadard VIDEO formats (mpg, avi, mov, etc), services like YouTube offer a different video format, which is the old mighty FLASH.

However, that involves huge costs because LOTS of servers have to work on converting the big ammount of uploaded video into flash format. And probably some people know that only the Flash Media Server License costs about 4500$. It's terrible for a small team to start something like this without a good planification.

And that's just the cost of the stupid license. You also must have some cool converters which transform different uploaded file types into flash video format. And that's a problem too. Decoding a video and encoding it into a different format... uh THAT's a lot of work added on the backs your server (s).

However, I noticed this service, they were smarter and the approach looks better: VLOGIT, good one. Why using your servers to process all the video comming from bloggers instead of using their computer's ressources. Clever.

The user records the info into his computer, and then uploads it directly into flash format, that's evil, and I like it. Cost effective. Probably the best idea if you want to start a blogging service for people.

there is another story, recording video directly from a source (webcam, handycam, etc) into your application. Not everyone is able to do that because if their connection is slow, the recording will look awful -- video will look like s*** actullay, because the watcher will be able to see few frames of the video and that's it. The speed of the video is superior against the speed of the internet connection and that is a big disvantage for the user.

I still believe that the best idea to have a video service (blogging, social newtworking) is to have people record their videos into their computer before uploading it. And as Vlogit did, it's AMAZING to have visitors uploading videos directly in the format you need it (flash for example)... saves a lot of money.

Vladimir

Lets talk about something you and I are working on now. It's called HolyCowDude.com This is an exciting project that we have going and I think some people would find it interesting. What is HolyCowDude? What sites would you compare it to? How big can this site get? Plus, why do we have an advantage over others in getting a site like this going?

Hi Tim,

The Holy Cow Dude is a new project at a higher level, it is more like a search engine.

It is based on searching other people's blog content, and it requires to be pinged in order to get your website indexed.

The cool thing about the Cow it's that it has 2 spiders:

1) One which collects feeds links from the people who just pinged it,

and 2) another spider which actually grabs the content.

It is a cool project, many people started to talk about it, and I compare it to Technorati.

We will try to contribute to the XML-RPC development, because this is one of the best way to exchange information on the internet. I feel it's going to be good.

Unlike most of the other blogging related services, we always have a look into the robots.txt files of the target website, and we grab only the ones which allow the HolyCowDude bot to crawl their website.

We were working on the graphics, and on the backend, and of course, there will be a new blog search engine in the market, starting from next month.

I'm starting to like the Cow
