If you want to play opinion-tennis (it's quite useful on forums in my opinion) regarding possible down-sides of CSS I can play on the home team.

Shoot me something you consider a negative point with CSS and I'll try to flip the coin by either showing that it isn't so or that it just isn't as negative as you might think at first (how trixy). No points, winners, or losers of course. It's just a fun way to share knowledge and experience in.
On a second thought, we might need another thread for that. :P
In short though, in my long years as a developer I have never felt any downsides with CSS once I "mastered" it (you can't really master any language in my opinion, but in relative terms).
